The hospital has been named after Smt. Rama Atray , educationist and Founder Principal of JPA Public School, Panchkula. Smt. Rama Atray was the epitome of elegance and goodness, loved and respected by all those whose lives she touched. This hospital was started by her son-in-law, Dr.RajanShonek in 2001, in her loving memory.
Dr. Rajan Shonek the Founder Medical Director of this Hospital has come a long way. Starting with the humble beginnings in a small rented building in Theri village, Rama Atray Memorial Eye Hospital, has now become a full fledged Eye Hospital, providing world class ophthalmic services to the people of Patiala and the neighboring districts.
Mr Arif Zafar has been an integral part of the hospital since its inception. His untiring efforts, dedication and hard work has played a major role in the success of this hospital, and has won him the respect and admiration of his colleagues, subordinates as well as patients.
